A swastika has appeared in a green field in Ontario, Canada.
Google Maps captured the symbol at the location ‘1600 Gainsborough Rd, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada’.
The shape has been deliberately mowed into the grass surrounding the rural community.
The shape has been mowed into the grass but it is not clear if it’s meant to be the swastika associated with the Nazi party or the Buddhist peace symbol
Although the intention of whoever put it there is unclear.
While the right-facing swastika is more closely associated with fascism and the Nazi party, when it points left – as with the one in the picture – it relates to a Buddhist good luck message.
The swastika of Hitler’s Third Reich more commonly points to the right.
So, it could be a message of hatred and racism or one of positive peace.
This is not the first time such a symbol has appeared in the area.
Martin Weiche had one on his property, situated about three kilometres from the property at 1600 Gainsborough Road.
His symbol also pointed to the left, although Weiche was a self-described racist and former leader of the Canadian Nationalist Socialist party before he died in September last year.
There is no evidence to suggest the two incidences are connected.
