BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A Birmingham man is being held in the Jefferson County Jail as a “Federal Transient.”
According to jail records Jarvis Britton was booked into the jail Friday, September 21st.
A tip to CBS42 lead us to Britton’s Twitter profile. On September 19th, Britton Tweeted, “Serious question? If you knew about a terrorist group planning to kill the president, would you tell? I kinda wanna see if they can! F.E.A.R”
A half hour later Britton tweeted, “Yes you can kill a president with cyanide. who would put that in water/coffee?”
CBS42 contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office to clarify why Britton was being held without bond. But a spokesperson for the County has not responded to our requests.
CBS42 cannot confirm if the tweets are the reason for Britton’s detainment.
If the arrest is tied to making threats against the president, it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened in the CBS42 viewing area.
In July, an Uzbekistan National was sentenced to 188 months after pleading guilty to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm, plotting to kill the president, and providing material support to terrorist activity.
Ulugbek Kodirov was living in Shelby County in September 2011 when he was arrested for attempting to purchase a machine gun from an undercover agent at a Birmingham motel.
